Before we can tell 21st-century Christians how the Bible applies to them, we must first come to the best possible understanding of what the Bible meant to its original audience. If we come up with an application that would have been foreign to the original audience, there is a very strong possibility that we did not interpret the passage correctly.   There’s a Christian Left and, perhaps even less well-known, there’s a secular Right. Larry T. Decker is a lobbyist and head of the Secular Coalition for America. He’s an “unaffiliated Christian,” but his entire job is devoted to keeping religion out of the U.S. government. Party lines are drawn in chalk, and they’re not hard to cross.

Thus a Christian worldview offers a new way of thinking, seeing, and doing, based on a new way of being. A Christian worldview is a coherent way of seeing life, of seeing the world distinct from deism, naturalism, and materialism, existentialism, polytheism, pantheism, mysticism, or deconstructionist postmodernism. The Old Testament and the New Testament—a body of writings that chronicle the origin and early dissemination of Christianity—constitute the Bible of the Christians. The literature of the Bible, encompassing the Old and New Testaments and various noncanonical works, has played a special role in the history and culture of the Western world.

The book explains how globalization is part and parcel of world Christianity, and vice versa. Myers takes a clear-eyed view of globalizing processes, seeing both the good and the evil they bring. One of the most helpful lessons Myers provides is on the role individual humans might play in a globalized society. Brief summary of Christianity Current status of Christianity. Current status of Christianity: Christianity is the largest religion in the world, with a little over billion members -- about one third of the world's population. This percentage has been quite stable for decades.

Rodney Stark's book, the Rise of Christianity, argues that one of the main reasons for the success of Early Christianity was the Christian emphasis on caring for the sick.

During the late Roman period there were a number of devastating plagues: the Antonine Plague ( AD), the Plague of Cyprian ( AD), and the Plague of Justinian. Leviticus is a challenging book, both for new Christians and casual Bible readers.

Gone are the fascinating characters and suspenseful stories of are the epic Hollywood plagues and miracles found in Exodus. Nearly two decades ago Hank Hanegraaff’s award-winning Christianity in Crisis alerted the world to the dangers of a cultic movement within Christianity that threatened to undermine the very foundation of biblical faith.

But in the 21st century, there are new dangers—new teachers who threaten to do more damage than the last/5(44). Once Christianity became legitimate, and recognized by Constantine, then the Book of Revelation was a problem. Because one didn't want to. The Gospel of Matthew is concerned with the position of these early Christian churches within Israel, or in its relationship to what we call Judaism.

And these are. Christian monks in silent orders summoned up pagan texts from library stores with a gagging hand gesture. The destruction of the extraordinary, frankincense-heavy temple of Serapis in Alexandria is described with empathetic detail; thousands of books. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions.

It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. Beginning as a despised, illicit religious sect, Christianity endured years of hostility to emerge as the dominant force in the Roman Empire.
